Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta is expected to seal a loan at Fiorentina, according to reports.
It was recently reported that Atalanta had been in contact with Chelsea as “concrete” talks took place over Zappacosta.
Chelsea have already tried to get rid of Zappacosta, offering the defender a player plus a cash deal for Romelu Lukaku. However, that offer was turned down as Inter Milan wanted to choose who to sign for the right-back position.
According to an Italian journalist Fabrice Romano, Zappacosta is expected to join Fiorentina on a one-season loan (with option to buy).
Zappacosta had previously been linked with Inter after successful loan spells at Rome and Genoa, and are said to be ‘awaiting a call’ from Inter ahead of the new campaign, but the Serie A champions have rejected offers , including the full-back in negotiations for Romelu Lukaku. .
Instead, they decided to go with Denzel Dumfries, excluding them from the race to sign the Italian. It has been reported that Fiorentina are turning their attention to the rear, but the club will look to sell Lirola before making a move for the defender.
Zappacosta amassed 25 outings in all competitions last season, scoring four goals and recording two assists on loan at Genoa and caught the attention of several Serie A clubs.
Danny Drinkwater, Tiémoué Bakayoko, Davide Zappacosta and Ike Ugbo are among others who are all set to leave West London before the transfer window closes, with Chelsea looking to free up space in the squad before making other additions .
