JOLIET, IL – A man and woman arrested two weeks ago by Joliet police over allegations they orchestrated state benefit fraud with COVID-19 Pandemic and Paycheck Protection loans have been released from jail without any charge from the Will County State Attorney’s Office. Jim Glasgow.
“No further information will be released as this investigation is ongoing,” Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said on October 11.
This week, a Will County deputy prosecutor filed documents at the courthouse indicating that two automobiles and $ 24,814 in cash belonging to Jelili Olaniyan, 34, and Asia Olaniyan, 41, could become confiscated assets for the police.

The Olaniyans were released from Will County Jail on October 8 when prosecutors decided not to lay charges at that time.
According to civil proceedings opened this week against the Olaniyans, the October 7 police raid in Joliet on their home in the 1000 block of Edgerton Drive seized the following items:

- 1 pair of blue Louis Vuitton moccasins
- 1 pair of black and green Christian Louboutin moccasins
- 1 pair of green and brown Gucci ankle boots
- 1 pair of Gucci Mickey Mouse moccasins
- 1 pair of black and white Gucci sandals
- 1 pair of Gucci baby shoes
- 1 pair of Gucci blue moccasins

A hearing regarding the money, vehicles and property seized from the Joliet house on Edgerton Drive is scheduled for October 27 in courtroom 403.
The hearing will determine whether there is probable cause for the couple’s property to be subject to civil forfeiture.
“This hearing is not a trial on the merits of the confiscation case,” said the document signed by police sergeant Joliet. Tim Powers indicated.
