Orlando City gamer writes book after finding solace in reading

Just as a runner would log miles every morning, Chris does his best to find anything that can help him be better, on or off the pitch. “I’ve always wanted to be the best player I can be, the best person I can be,” said Chris. “I feel like reading a little everyday is a bit like shooting myself on this trip.” During the pandemic, with the shutdown of football and the rest of the world, Chris began to develop his love of reading. He’s started an online book club, but the books are what he loves. No Harry Potter or Stephen King novels were on the list. Each book was non-fiction, with the goal of helping the reader become the best version of themselves. He still has his nose in non-fiction. And now Chris doesn’t just read books about sports or the physical body. Now he dwells on books delving into the deeper ways of the mind’s thought. Everything that comes from the scientific or philosophical field and Chris is interested. He has also turned the page on a new habit, he doesn’t just read every day, he also writes every day. “It just helps me deal with my thoughts, my emotions,” Chris said. “I am really into what I think or feel. It protects my mind the rest of the day. This daily writing took him to an unexpected place. He’s a published author. “I was writing down thoughts, lessons learned from other books,” Chris said. “The next thing you know, 2 years later I have about 200 pages in Microsoft and I’m like – maybe I could make a book out of it!” ”That’s exactly what he did, his book“ Bet on Yourself ”is now available to buy on Amazon.com. What was once a curiosity has become a hobby. Now, this hobby is a way for this professional athlete to improve his performance in games – and his life. One book at a time.
