JK Rowling teased Fantastic Beasts 3’s magical twist 22 years ago

JK Rowling opened up about how the twist of the much talked about Fantastic Beasts 3 trailer around Jacob is possible – over two decades ago.

A trailer for Fantastic Beasts 3: Dumbledore’s Secrets shows an intriguing twist that JK Rowling herself implied was possible 22 years ago. Although the Fantastic beasts the series has been criticized for not adding anything substantial to the existing one Harry potter saga, there is no doubt that the films allow fans to take a closer look at the lore that runs through the two franchises. According to the trailer, the third installment confirms a long-held theory regarding the Law of Wands that Rowling herself revealed two decades ago.

the Fantastic Beasts 3 trailer shows Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler), a Muggle who has always been involved in the adventures of Fantastic beasts, receive a wand to use in the fight against the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen). the Harry potter The universe has widely explored the tradition of wands, showing that wands are the most favored method of casting magic. Wands also have a strong connection to the wizard who owns them, but wands can change owners as well, as shown with all elderberry wand owners. Also explored in the Harry potter the universe is the wizarding muggle divide and the tense power struggle evidenced by the prejudices against muggle-born wizards and pureblood wizards fighting for control.

Jacob receiving a wand after the age of 11 would apparently confirm a long-held theory that magical abilities can sometimes awaken years after what is commonly accepted. While Jacob has interacted with the wizarding world a lot given his muggle status, the trailer suggests it’s possible he might discover late-blooming magical abilities on his own. In fact, although it seems to run counter to what many audiences assume to be possible in the world of Harry potter, it was a development that Rowling herself teased when releasing the first book in the series.

Fantastic Beasts Muggles Can Throw Jacobs Magic Wand

In a 1999 interview with Barnes and Noble, Rowling revealed that “Magic almost always shows up in a person before the age of 11; however, there is one character who succeeds in desperate circumstances at doing magic quite late in life, but it is very rare in the world I write about. ” No such character in any post Harry potter work has already shown magic after the age of 11. That said, giving a wand to a muggle like Jacob doesn’t immediately make the wand ineffective given that there are a lot of crossbreeds in the wizarding and muggle bloodlines. Wizards can be born to Muggle parents, Muggles called Squibs can be from wizarding parents, and Pottermore gives examples of Muggles with wizarding ancestors who have had brief success with the use of the wand.

That said, it’s not clear exactly why Dumbledore wants Jacob to have a wand. While the trailer clearly shows Jacob holding the wand, even though spells seem to be happening around him, Jacob’s wand never emits magic. It is possible that Jacob will receive the wand for non-magical purposes, such as keeping it in a safe place or giving it to someone that other wizards may not have close access to. Again, why Dumbledore gives Jacob any task regarding a wand is yet to be answered.

that of harry potter The future may go beyond JK Rowling, especially in light of his controversial remarks regarding transgender people, but his influence in the wizarding world remains strong. Rowling produced and wrote the three Fantastic beasts films, work with Harry potter screenwriter Steve Kloves on The Fantastic Beast 3 scenario. As a result, Rowling has a big watch over what’s canon in the Fantastic beasts universe. Because Rowling previously alluded to magical latency in wizards, Jacob can use a wand even for magical purposes in Fantastic Beasts 3: Dumbledore’s Secrets despite the late blooming wizards never appearing in the Harry potter franchisee before.
