JK Rowling reacts to Danny Kruger’s abortion comments

JK Rowling is the latest famous name to denounce Devizes MP Danny Kruger for his views on abortion.

The Tory MP told the House of Commons yesterday that he does not believe women have an ‘absolute right to bodily autonomy’.

JK Rowling fired back at the MP on Twitter saying, “More evidence as if it were needed that women’s rights are under attack in the developed world #RoeVsWade”, in response to a video of him speaking.

The author posted the tweet at 7:16 p.m. last night and it has already garnered a high level of engagement.

She has been “liked” over 16,600 times and retweeted over 2,600 times by her followers.

Ms Rowling is not the only one celebrity to react to controversial comments by Mr. Kruger.

Author and journalist Caitlin Moran called on the woman to “remember this man’s name”, before adding in another tweet: “I’ll say it again – it would be much more logical and effective to subject all teenagers to a vasectomy, reversed only when they decide to have children, than to restrict the right of women and girls – especially those who have been raped – to decide whether or not to become mothers.”
