HCPL extends the “Object Library” | All Community life

When you think of a “library,” you probably think of books, periodicals, audiobooks, and movies. Although we have a lot, we also have a lot of other “stuff” to discover. HCPL cardholders have access to our Library of Things, a collection of fun and educational items including activity backpacks, Wi-Fi hotspots, board games, STEM kits, cake pans and even a blood pressure monitor. Our current stuff is mostly focused on technology, crafts and hobbies, but we’re always looking to add more materials to our collection. Check back regularly to see what new things are available to explore.

Do you like all things “Harry Potter”? Join us for the 8th Annual Harry Potter Book Party. The theme of the evening is “magical journeys” and celebrates the 25th anniversary of the publication of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”. On February 3, we will have wizard-themed activities available throughout our opening hours. Do crafts, play games, or just hang out and re-read the classics. Disguised presence is encouraged. Visit our Facebook page to follow the events.

Valentine’s Day is approaching. Celebrate by entering our Valentine’s Day book raffle. You could win a gift basket of romance novels. Tickets can be purchased February 7-12 and cost 25 cents each. The draw will take place on February 14. Adults only.

Thank you for your questions and your interest in tax services. Unfortunately, this year, tax assistance will not be available. If you know of anyone interested in signing up to volunteer as a tax preparer next year, please invite them to contact the library. HCPL will always provide free tax forms for your convenience. Popular tax forms will be located in the spindle near the front door. We can also print the tax forms you need.
