Five differences between the Harry Potter books and movies

No other series of books has become as popular as Harry Potter which has sold over 500 million copies worldwide. The success of the novels changed JK Rowling’s fortune from a single mother on benefits to one of the richest authors of all time.

And when adapted for film, Harry Potter performed just as well on screen, making billions at the box office. According to Betway online casino, the quality of the books is one of the main reasons for the success of films. Additionally, the fact that Harry Potter is a seven-book series also played a big role in the films’ financial success.

1- Peeves has disappeared

Surprisingly, the mischievous poltergeist Peeves is absent from the Harry Potter films. Readers of the book know that Peeves has appeared on the series several times. It was he who was a nuisance to the students, always trying new things on everyone just for a laugh.

However, there is no mention of Peeves in all eight films. The character is said to have been originally included in the movies, with actor Rik Mayall set to star in the role. However, it was decided not to include the poltergeist at the end.

2- Not all challenges are included in the first film

In the book, there are six teachers plus the headmaster who have set up challenges to protect the Sorcerer’s Stone. The movie doesn’t present all of these challenges when Harry, Ron, and Hermione set out to keep the Sorcerer’s Stone from falling into the wrong hands.

They manage to overtake Hagrid’s three-headed dog named Fluffy, face Professor Sprout’s devil trap, encounter Flitwick’s enchanted keys, and narrowly escape after playing McGonagall’s game of chess.

However, the film did not include Quirrell’s Troll and Snape’s Potion Riddle Challenge in the film’s end stages.

3- No explanation of Squib

Mr. Filch is a nasty character in the Harry Potter series. However, in the second book, the Guardian seems to deserve our sympathy a little more after learning something about him.

In the Chamber of Secrets, the protagonist discovers Filch is a squib, a non-magical person born to at least one magical parent, after stumbling upon a book in the keeper’s office.

The movie not only cut that scene but even omitted the explanation of a Squib. And in the fifth Order of the Phoenix movie, Arabella Figg is discovered to be a Squib. However, what is very surprising is that they still haven’t explained the term in the movie.

4- The producers did not give Daniel Radcliffe green eyes

In the books, it is said that Harry Potter has green eyes. Trying to keep the films faithful to the books, the producers attempted to make Daniel Radcliffe green eyes. However, they failed because the English actor is said to be allergic to his green contact lenses.

Likewise, Hermione Granger is described as having jagged teeth. But she couldn’t speak clearly with her fake sawtooths, so neither could the producers fully replicate Hermione’s appearance in the books.

5- Marauders Map Creators

Harry receives the Marauders Map from the Weasley twins in the movie Prisoner of Azkaban. But who are the Marauders? According to the book, protagonist James Potter’s father and his friends Remus Lupine, Peter Pettigrew, and Sirius Black were the Marauders who developed the highly instrumental map. However, the movie doesn’t mention the creators of the map, so Harry never knows that his own father helped develop it. All of the Harry Potter films are extremely exciting and entertaining. But for sports fans, nothing can compare to the experience of watching their favorite. EPL top scorers in action on weekends.
