Dave King’s Rangers Sydney Super Cup cash offer rejected by Ibrox board

Davie King’s Rangers are offering to cover Sydney Super Cup withdrawal costs. was postponed.

The former president said he would pay the money to cover the shortfall caused by the withdrawal from the controversial tournament.

The Ibrox board have come under heavy criticism for their involvement in the competition later this year, which will see them face Celtic for the first time outside of Glasgow.

Marketing chief James Bisgrove has claimed the proposed financial demand is higher than what Gers would get for winning the Premiership title.

It was billed as a homecoming for Ange Postecoglo and Rangers fans are furious at their club’s decision to take part.

And now The Glasgow Times says Douglas Park and the Rangers board have made the decision not to accept King’s offer.

They are looking for other ways to navigate the contentious situation as they seek to end the row with fans.

King had offered to cover the cost of the Rangers withdrawing from their deal.

It came after Rangers fans caused disruption during their game with Dundee last weekend.

Fans have protested at every game since the decision was made with regular chants and banners at games.

But they went further by throwing banners and tennis balls on the field to try to stop them.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men face Celtic next weekend in a close Premiership clash ahead of a Europa League quarter-final with Braga.

And they will be desperate to ensure fans fully support their team for the game for a huge month of the season.
