And the Clarets have been in talks over a temporary change for the past few weeks.

Shaun Dyche’s wrestlers could not afford the £400,000-a-week salary Ramsey has announced.

But Ramsey, 31, can still consider a move after an initial rejection – with Juventus desperate to get him off their books.

He was hoping for Crystal Palace, but Patrick Viera’s team did not enter.

Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri confirmed earlier in January that Ramsey was free to leave, describing him as surplus to requirements.

Allegri said: “Ramsey, he came back today after we gave him a few days off to work, train separately, in England.

“In any case, he is an outgoing player.”

Ramsey has struggled heavily with injuries since arriving in Italy in 2019, playing just 69 times, scoring six goals.

He has made just one Serie A start for Allegri’s side this season and has come off the bench twice.

Reports recently suggested Ramsey angered Juve by rejecting a loan move to Newcastle, who are looking to bolster their bid for Premier League survival.

The playmaker’s last appearance was in October but only lasted six minutes in the Champions League against Zenit.
