Anti-Vaccines Now Want People to Call Them ‘Pure Blood’

A group of people are asking to be called “pureblood” and it is not because they are part of the Malfoy family of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Recently, TikTok saw the term #purebloods and #antivaxxers share the same space as people took to the social media platform to share their favorite terminology for their unvaccinated status.

A user alleged that he saw the invitation to change the title according to a video posted by a masked individual. This is allegedly where the worship categorization has started.

Very quickly, people started using the hashtags #pureblood and #antivaxxer alongside somewhat odd sounds to proclaim their “status”. The videos have attracted thousands of likes.

However, many users were quick to ask if the “purebloods” knew that the term had already been dubbed, and that the ending was not necessarily happy in the. Harry Potter world for pureblood supremacists.

For a quick Harry Potter reminder, pureblood refers to witches and wizards who are of a pure magical ancestral lineage. A half-blood relates to a witch or wizard mixed between Muggle and magical ancestry, a mudblood is a magical being but born of Muggle parents, and a Muggle is a non-magical being.

Throughout JK Rowling’s works we see a sort of classist and supremacist divide between those who believe that the purebloods are superior. Pureblood superiority was largely Voldemort’s agenda, and Voldemort was a bit out of reach when it comes to most people’s favorite character, to put it politely.

Essentially, Rowling drew on factionalism, as well as notions of “racial” or “cultural” cleansing, and the problems evidenced by the former. It also relied on class power and others. Basically, the characters who were supporters of the first points weren’t well represented.

Even though the Wizarding world is fictitious (allegedly), the messages from JK Rowling’s books highlighted the issues of supremacism, so the term “pureblood” in real-world integration is far from tasteful.

Everyone has the right to choose their vaccination status of course, but that’s it. Everyone. Which means you can’t be ‘pure’ if you don’t get the vaccine, as that would undermine equality of choice, at least in my opinion, writes Ashleigh Nefdt of Cape {town} Etc.
